Clever Tricks For Repairing Bathroom Faucets

Even if you're already familiar with how to repair or replace your bathroom faucets, sometimes you stumble upon some clever ideas that you'd never thought of before. Perhaps some of these could spark some genius in your other handyman projects, too.

If you have a double handle faucet that's leaking, how do you know which side has the leak? Simple. Shut off the valve to one side while leaving the other open. If the leak stops, you've probably found the problem, but if it doesn't then try it on the other side, too. This trick will identify which side has the leak.

What if you have beautiful and shiny chrome faucets but need to unscrew it? You can protect your chrome finish by wrapping your pliers or other tools with duct tape.

If you're not able to fix that annoying leak right away, you can put a rag in the spout or in the bottom of the sink to catch the drips and you'll not hear that water torture while you're looking for the time to fix the leak. This one happens to us a lot, what if your faucet is wobbly? It could be the result of a loose locknut under the sink which you can tighten with any standard wrench.

What happens when you take apart the faucet but can't remember how to put it back together? You can take care of this in the future by putting the parts on the counter in the order of how you took them off. When you put it back together put them on in the reverse order of how you lined them up. Clever, huh?
